Training Programmes

Bespoke training

IHRN provides commissioned bespoke training for organisations and for specific sectors.

For example, a programme of capacity-building tailored to the needs of international development consultants will take place in a series of workshops in 2009-10. Participants are subject-matter experts concerned to up-skill in the area of Human Rights Based Programme Cycle Management, especially programme design and evaluation services. Ideal for consultants undertaking EC Lot 7 and similar bi-lateral, or multi-lateral, donor assignments. IHRN also offers post-training consulting opportunities. Please note, places are limited. Annual training programmes

In addition, IHRN designs training programmes which are open to applicants world-wide and from a range of organisations. The 2009-10 details are below, and applications are now being taken. Sample testimonials from previous participants in IHRN's annual training programmes are available here.

Human Rights Fieldwork: Principles, Practice and Skills. This annual programme took place in Ireland from Sunday 31st May to Saturday 6th June 2009; and will next be delivered in 2011, venue to be confirmed shortly.

Justice Sector Reform: Applying Human Rights Based Approaches. The next annual programme takes place in Ireland from Monday 25 - Friday 29 October 2010. Previously, participants in 2009 also took part in the IHRN one-day international conference: Measuring Justice: Evaluating justice sector and human rights

Other programmes

Human Rights Based Approaches to Development. This programme most recently took place in Uganda adapted to the context of the East African region.

Capacity-building for Iraqi Human Rights NGOs, commissioned by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia commissioned by the Council of Europe.
